Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation is a broad term, used by many different health care practitioners. Rehabilitation programs or therapies may use frequency, intensity, duration, quality, and timing of stimuli. This is the key to successful rehabilitation. Rehabilitation options could consist of neurologic retraining, exercises, stretches, nutritional and lifestyle modifications, cranial work, positive thinking/meditation, adjustments and lab testing. Injury care is one of the most common reasons for seeking out a chiropractor. Many different techniques and modalities can be used to treat acute injuries. At Star Spa we offer chiropractic, tissue work, PEMF therapy, stretching, and functional medicine for acute injuries. Each injury is completely unique and requires a proper assessment to determine what the best course of rehabilitation might be. Applied Kinesiology techniques offer a great way to assess an acute injury, and when combined with traditional orthopedic and structural assessment offer a superior way of finding and relieving the injury.

The body responds to frequency, intensity, duration, quality, and timing of stimuli. Every part of a therapy program should follow this. This could mean chiropractic treatment, exercises for rehabilitation, nutrients, PEMF, or other recommendations. For example, when someone experiences an acute neck injury the nutritional part of the puzzle might consist of taking anti-inflammatory nutrients every single hour for a duration of time in order to change the body. Remember the human body responds to frequency, intensity, duration, quality and timing of stimuli, with all the different forms of interventions being the stimuli.

Cranial adjusting may be used as an intervention. The skull consists of 28 different bones and contrary to popular belief the skull does not become solid as we age. The bones become firmer, but the joints and sutures in the skull must maintain proper movement, otherwise dysfunction can occur. When a skull dysfunctions the joints in the skull become rigid. It is this rigid, stiff skull which creates major problems in the head such as migraines, TMJ, headaches, vertigo, hearing problems, facial pain, numbness, eye pain, eye tracking issues, teeth alignment issues and more.

Concussions are a common injury and cranial adjusting is pivotal to helping the body and head recover from this trauma. Car accidents, falls, emotional trauma, chemical imbalances, hormone problems, autoimmunity and birthing trauma can all cause skull dysfunction.
